Coaching

Coaching

The main focus of the Eastern Suburbs LAC is to run club competitions on Friday nights during the season (for more information on dates see our ESLAC Calendar 2018_2019 Season). The Friday nights are about participation but the competition between club members does a great job of preparing ESLAC athletes for the inter-club meets that start with the State Relay Championships in November.

While basic instruction is provided for most events on Friday nights, there is insufficient time to provide in depth coaching. For athletes who want individual instruction on improving their techniques, ESLAC provides professional coaches on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and on Friday nights from 5:00pm before our regular Little As meet.

When and Where is Coaching Available?

ESLAC provides a subsidised extra coaching program midweek at ES Marks for athletes U8 and up. From 5pm at ES marks on Friday (before the start of competition) will have 5 specialist coaches taking hurdles (Mal), sprints (Leo), long/middle distance (Byron), throws (Jemima) and long jump (Sara). ESLAC will also have midweek coaching available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will be middle distance training (400m, 800m, 1500m) with Byron Crimmins from 5:45-6:45pm on Tuesdays only and sprints/hurdles coaching with Mal Baker on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30pm for U8, U9, and U10 and from 4:30-5:30pm for U11-U17.
