March Past Success. Eastern Suburbs Little Athletics Centre was the winner of the ICZ march past for the first time in seven years. The march past was on Sunday and thanks in a large part to the efforts of Kimi Anderson, her daughter Lara Roets U14G and our Vice President, Drew Richardson, ESLAC was voted as the winner by a panel of judges from the 7 clubs who make up our Zone. Thanks also to Fred Whalebone (he’s holding up the winner’s trophy in the picture) and how good were our bag pipe player and baton twirler?

Full Results for Eastern Suburbs Athletes. You can download a copy of the ESLAC Provisional Zone Results – 2018 and see exactly how all our Eastern Suburbs athletes performed. Please look at your results and let us know as soon as possible if you think there are any errors in the results. Progression to Regional Championships. The Regional Championships will be held at The Ridge Athletics Track, Recreation Drive, Bardon Ridge NSW 2234 on Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd of February 2019. There are 2 Zones that make up Region 8, Inner City Zone (our Zone) and Southern Met Zone. U7’s don’t go to Regionals but U8-U17 athletes automatically progress based on the results from the 2 Zones that make up our Region. The rules for progression from Zone to Region can be a bit complicated but the basically for a Region with only 2 Zones (like ours) the top 6 athletes from each event at each Zone automatically progress to Regionals and then the next best 4 athletes from either Zone also progress. When considering the next best 4 athletes, only results from finals are considered for track events (timed finals in the 400m and 800m are considered finals) but from all results for field events.

The Zone Secretary will publish a list showing who has made it through to Region but there are a few issues that need to be resolved before that list can be finalised. If you would like to do some sleuthing of your own to see if you are headed to the Regional Championships, you can compare the Provisional ICZ 2018 Results with the Final Sth Met 2018 Results and do your own calculations.
If You Can’t Make Regionals. If you can’t make it to Regionals then please let us know by sending an email to eslac1@outlook.com. It is a great help to the organisers of the Regional Carnival to know who can’t make it so they can equalise the participants in the heats and seed them correctly.
Piper Simpson Does it Again. Piper Simpson, ESLAC U11 athlete, has continued her rich vein of form and obliterated the Zone record in the 1500m event on Saturday morning bettering the previous mark by 5.17 seconds in at time of 5:06.93. Congratulations again for another great performance from Piper this time wearing the Eastern Suburbs colours.
