200m and Javelin this Friday February 15th. This Friday we are running Event Series 6 with the U10 – U17 age groups running the 200m/800m combination while the U7 – U9 will run a 70m/200m combination and the Tots – U6 will run 50m and 70m. The U11 – U17 age groups will also get to throw the Javelin starting at 8pm. You can print copies (or download copies to your phone) of the ESLAC Event Series 6 Feb 15, 2019, the Event Series 6 Program List Feb 15, 2019 and the ESLAC ES Marks Event Locations Map Sep 19, 2018 and bring them with you on Friday night so that you know what is scheduled for your age group and where you can find your group at any time.
Milly Boughton Secures Regional Record for ESLAC. Milly Boughton has capped off a brilliant Regional Carnival for ESLAC by blitzing the Regional Record for the U13 Girls 1500m Walk with a time of 7:26.83. It was a great credit to Milly because she was disqualified in last year’s Regional Walk final and we all felt the tremendous disappointment caused by what many thought was a very harsh DQ decision but she did not let it get her down and continued her training and is now back stronger than ever as the new Regional record holder. We are looking forward to seeing Milly and her fellow ESLAC State Reps in action again at the State Championships in March.
ESLAC State Team Still to be Finalised. The last Regional Carnival will be held this weekend (there are 8 Regions in all) and after the results are in, the final ESLAC State Team will be advised. We already have 14 athletes who have secured automatic qualification for State by finishing 1st or 2nd at our Regional Carnival on Feb 2nd and 3rd, but the next 8 best performances from all Regions in each event also go through to State, so we are hoping our 14 strong State Team will be substantially boosted when the team is finalised. Barbeque Help Required (U6 Boys and U6 Girls). The barbeque is the major fund raiser for ESLAC during the season and we thank the volunteers who turn up to run it every week. This week it is the turn of the U6 age group to help out. It’s hard wrangling very young kids and helping out but it is even harder to run a barbeque without enough helpers, so why not arrange for Grandma and Grandad to watch the kids do some athletics and come and lend a helping hand at the barbeque. We are at the home stretch of the season now so it’ll be the last call out for the U6’s to help at the barbeque for this season.
