ESLAC Little A’s CANCELLED Friday February 19th

Friday Feb 19, 2021
    PREDICTED RAIN, SORRY!

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted rain all afternoon at ES Marks for Friday the 19th of February.

So due to predicted bad weather we have decided:

  • ESLAC Little A’s Cancelled for Friday February 19th
  • Age Championship points cancelled for Friday February 19th (you will not be disadvantaged on trophy night if you don’t run this Friday at ESLAC Little A’s)
  • No barbeque
  • 5:30pm to 6:30pm Training for State Athletes
  • 6:30pm to 7:30 Front straight and circular track will be set up with timing gates for athletes trying to qualify for the State championships.

While we know that weather forecasts are not perfect and there is a chance that things will be better than predicted, we have decided that, on balance, it is better for our ESLAC families if we cancel the main ESLAC Little A’s competition but keep the track open for training for State athletes and to give our Senior athletes their last chance to set a qualifying mark for the State Youth Championships before nominations close this Sunday the 21st of Feb at 5pm. This Friday is scheduled to be Event Series 5 which is a hurdles night and our last washout was also hurdles night, so it is important that we give athletes one last chance to qualify for hurdles for State.

Nominations for the U13-U17 Little Athletics NSW Youth State Championships are now open! While the U9 to U12 athletes must go through the Region 8 Littles State Qualifying Meet to get to their State Championships being held at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre on the 20th and 21st of March, the U13 to U17 athletes can nominate directly for the Youth State Championships being held the following weekend on the 27th and 28th of March 2021 also at SOPAC Homebush.

  • The nomination period ends 5pm, Sunday, 21 February 2021 with the announcement of successful athletes posted by 28 February 2021.
  • Standards must be achieved this season at any Little Athletics NSW competition. If the standard is achieved in an event outside of a Little Athletics NSW competition, then it must be achieved under the Little Athletics specifications e.g., weights and heights and when competing in their own age group.
  • To determine if your outside event is compatible with LANSW event specifications please download a copy of the LANSW Rules of Competition Event Specs and compare your event specifications.
  • The top 2 athletes from each Region then next best 8 from across the state will be selected to compete at the Youth State Championships on 27-28 March at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre. If a Region doesn’t have an athlete achieve the qualifying standard the next top athlete within the state will fulfil the position subject to them meeting the qualifying standard.
  • There is a cap of 24 athletes per event.
  • There will be NO relays for the U13-U17 age groups.
  • Multi-class (Disability) athletes will be required to do a direct entry. Please click HERE for further details and to enter.
  • DRAFT Programs are available via these links and are subject to change –Saturday & Sunday
