Friday 18 February & Regionals this weekend

Again, we had a couple of challenges last week but luckily the rain only arrived during our last few races.  Thanks Leone for organising the first group photo in a very long time and probably the only one we will ever have at McKay Oval.  Thanks to the crew that helped unpack and pack the gear into the container the event cannot occur without your assistance.

This Friday the weather looks a bit challenging and if we cancel, we will advise via Instagram etc.  With Regionals this week, there are no points.  Under 7 parents that aren’t helping their age manager, please assist at the BBQ from 1730-1830.  Under 9 parents that aren’t helping their age manager, please help at the BBQ from 1830 to 2000.

This week we will go back to the McKay Oval Week A program but with a few tweaks to make sure all the age groups cycle through our limited field events. Please download a copy of ESLAC McKay Oval Week A2 Feb 18, 2022 to see what events your age group is competing in this week.

The Oxford Street gate remains open until at least 2100 if there are concerns about exiting the park after 8 pm.

The Uniform Shop will be open again and we have the new Easts T-shirts available for sale for $25 in all sizes.

Please remember

  1. Our Tots to Under 8s event is from 1730-1830
  2. Our U9s to U17s event is from 1830-1945
  3. Please just line up at the relevant age flag positioned on the field to enable the event to commence

Our usual Friday night coaching will occur from 1730-1820 across hurdles (Mal), sprints and Long Jump (Maxim) this week as Leo is running at State Titles in the Open 100m.  Go Leo!

Regional Championships

Good luck to all of our Regional Athletes on the weekend.  Please collect your ESLAC Regional Cap over the weekend from Drew, Michael or Bec.  Please note that they may be rules based on the age patch, Coles patch etc this weekend.  Our Instagram has the location of our allocated seating in the stand given the expected wet weather.  Parents who have not paid the non-volunteer levy, please access the sign-up page https://signup.com/go/fgecoru and nominate yourself for a duty.  The Regional Fee is $20 and the non-volunteer fee is $50.  You can pay with cash at the event, on Friday night or via the account.  All competitors will receive the new ESLAC Cap.  The non-volunteer fee funds the resources the club will provide to fill all of our club duties over the weekend that normally parents would fill. Our account details are: Eastern Suburbs Little Athletics BSB: 012241 Account Number: 254 095 775. When paying please put your name

Some key information about our event Friday night is outlined below:

  1. If we cancel due to weather this will be notified by 1300 on a Friday (website, Instagram and facebook).  We try to ensure we hold the event but if heavy rain/storms are forecast at the time of our event we will cancel as our electronic timing gear is impacted by the heavy rain.
  2. New members collecting your registrations, please bring proof of age for your athlete (birth certificate or passport)
  3. For Registration please remember you will need to complete the working with children form (required by Little Athletics NSW) as you will be accessing the general area.  Please note that you will not need to have a Working With Children clearance, just complete the form if you are only performing limited parent helper duties etc.  Registration collection will be available from 1700
  4. At registrations, you will also need to complete the parental obligations form to advise whether you will help the age manager, help on the BBQ or be paying the non-volunteer fee of $70 for a child or $120 for a family.  We require one carer from each family to assist each week and if this is not possible, please pay the non-volunteer fee at registration. We use this money to arrange a large crew of ex-athletes to ensure the event functions each week.
