Dear Parents and Carers,
A reminder that Little Athletics commences again Friday Night 4th of February at the usual times at McKay Oval in Centennial Park. If you visit the McKay Oval you will see it is marked up as a track and obviously accessible most times for training.
Zone Information for Saturday 29 January and Sunday 30 January
Here are the links to the Zone Program, ESLAC Zone competitor/event list, Zone Parents Volunteer Roster, Zone Information, Zone Results QR code and ESLAC Carnival Records (boys and girls). A few important points are also outlined below.
Program: Inner City Zone Program include times and start lists
Venue: The Crest Athletics Track – 70 McClean St, Georges Hall NSW 2198 (Enter via Rex Rd)
• We have 104 Competitors over 364 events. There were 3 events where we had too many ESLAC competitors nominated, we are only allowed to submit 5 from our club. Where we had this challenge we looked at the Friday night results and had to exclude one competitor from each event, thankfully on all occasions, the competitor had a number of other entries. This applied to the U10 Boys 200m, U10 Boys 60m hurdles and U11 Girls 800m. If you have any questions please contact Drew.
• We cannot change or update entries and a competitor has to attend Zone to qualify for Regionals, there are no exemptions.
• If you have an appeal/issue with a race you will need to see Drew/Bronwen or Michael to lodge the appeal in the allocated time. It helps if you have footage of the issue.
• Our club coach Mal Baker will be available both days on the Back Straight for warm-ups etc.
• Parents, please ensure you go to the designated area on time for your volunteer duty. Please note Sunday 2-4pm duty has moved forward to 1330-1530. Jemima is running discus 1 for us and Mimi is running Discus 2, so please report to them as per the roster. Please be punctual so the events can commence. Please note we are short of parent helpers 0820-1000 both Saturday and Sunday, so let Drew know if you can help. We can’t swap times etc so please just attend at the time you nominated.
• Please ensure your athlete wears the full uniform including red shorts, ESLAC singlet, age patch and Coles patch (in the correct places on the uniform). They will not let the athlete complete unless they are in the correct uniform.
• Please ensure you read the Zone Information Sheet.
• Track events are marshalled 15 minutes before the scheduled event time at the marshal tent (100m start) for track events.
• Field event competitors go directly to the field events I.e .do not marshall at the track tent.
• First 6 from Zone plus the next best 4 across the two zones will progress to Region 8 championships to be held at the Crest Athletics Track on the weekend of Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 February 2022
• There are medals for U7 only as they cannot progress to Regionals.
• You don’t have to report in to the ESLAC team, just ensure you are warmed up and make your scheduled event (marshall time 15 minutes prior).
• We have ESLAC shirts for all of our competitors. These will be available from Drew/Bronwen/Michael at the ESLAC tent over the event.
• Please allow plenty of time to find parking, especially if you are not arriving for an early event.
• Whilst there is catering at the event (Bankstown Club Canteen) given the numbers expected (2000 plus people over the 2 days) we suggest you bring some food and drink options.
• We will set up a tent on the grassed area. The covered grandstand area is available on a first come basis. We suggest you bring a chair blanket etc and an umbrella if heat or rain is predicted.
• There will be a QR check in for the event and in these COVID times the normal directions apply about non-attendance where you have symptoms etc.
• The march past is scheduled for 1130 on Sunday, so if you are a Sunday morning competitor please meet at the ESLAC tent on Sunday at 1115. We would like to have as many ESLAC athletes participate as possible.
• Like at 2019 Zone, if our ESLAC competitors break a Zone Record, there is a $50 prize and if they break a Club Carnival Record there is a $10 prize. Please see Drew to claim your prize if you achieve a record. The Zone Records are on the program and the ESLAC Carnival Records links are here (boys and girls). So good luck!
• We expect to get a meet manager list if events and all competitors on Monday and will post it on the website when received
• Finally, please support all of our ESLAC athletes, we athletes representing us in every age group. They will need encouragement as the competition will be fierce as our zone is one of the strongest in the state, so cheer on your teammates.
Regards
Bronwen, Michael and Drew
