Hot Coditions Forecast but Not Too Hot for this Friday Feb 10th

Hot but not Too Hot. The forecast for this Friday the 10th of February is hot but it should be just cool enough for our Little A’s meet at ES Marks to go ahead this Friday. We are expecting 36 degrees at 5pm with north easterly winds of around 15 km/h and 50% humidity. The temperature will drop to around 30 degrees by 8pm. That is still very hot but with the predicted humidity level it should be just OK by the Little Athletics NSW mandated threshold for cancelling events.

6:30pm Delayed Start Time. To avoid the worst of the conditions we have decided to delay our events Start Time by 30 minutes to 6:30pm. It will just give us some extra time for the sea breeze to come in, the temperature to drop and give the conditions a chance to improve. We will also make a call on the 500m and 700m Pack Starts and the 800m Events at the times the races are due to be held, these events will be cancelled if the conditions are too hot.

Great New Year Turnout. Thanks to all those people who came along last week to make it our largest post Christmas turnout ever. With everyone back from holidays the numbers were great and we hope the temperature does not deter too many this week and we keep the final 5 weeks of the season going strong. We have purchased some new equipment and upgraded some old gear so we hope to get our timing running more smoothly than it has for the last couple of weeks.

Congratulations to the ESLAC Regional Team. The 75 athletes who represented ESLAC in 178 events at the Regional Carnival did a magnificent job. It seemed almost every final had an ESLAC athlete and there was lots of ESLAC red, white and blue on the podium at medal presentation time. Please download a copy of the 2017 Region 8 Results – Eastern Suburbs and the Region 8 2017 – Full Results to see how ESLAC athletes performed at Regionals. We will post a summary of the ESLAC team results and the list of athletes who have qualified for the State Championships over the coming weeks.

200m, 800m and Javelin this Friday. This Friday February 10th we will be running Event Series 6 which sees the Tots and U6′s running 50m and 70m, the U7’s to U9’s running 70m and 200m, and the U 10’s to Seniors running 200m and 800m events. The U11’s to U17’s get to throw the Javelin at 8pm. There will also be 500m and 700m pack start races for the  U7’s and U8’s at 7pm and 8pm respectively. For a full listing of events you can download a copy of the ESLAC Event Series 6 Feb 10, 2017 to your phone along with a copy of the ESLAC ES Marks Event Locations Map Oct 12, 2014 so that you know what events are scheduled and where you can find your group at any time.

Barbeque Roster. After membership fees the ESLAC barbeque is the club’s major source of revenue for the season. This week it is the turn of the U12 Boys and U12 Girls Parents to assist with the barbeque. Please download a copy of the ESLAC Barbeque Roster 2016_2017 Season to see when your age group is rostered on to help out.

Registrations are Still Open. The ESLAC Little Athletics season runs right through until March 2017 (with a Christmas/New Year break), so there is plenty of athletics left this season. You will then be able to complete your registration before the competition starts at ES Marks on Fridays by reporting to Ilana, our registrar, from 5:30pm at the registration desk as you walk into ES Marks.
