Registrations for the 2020/21 Season are Open. The Eastern Suburbs Little Athletics season starts on Friday the 18th of September and our registrations for the new season are now open. For all the details on how to register please visit our Registration Page.

New Start Times for the 2020/21 Season. Eastern Suburbs Little Athletics has submitted and had approved our CovidSafe plan for the 2020/21 season. A part of our plan that is designed to keep our numbers at ES Marks to a safe level is new start times to separate the younger and older age groups.

• U8’s will operate on a 1 hour program the same as they did last season (when they were U7s)
• Tiny Tots to U8’s will start at 5:30pm and finish at 6:30pm.
• U9’s to Seniors will start at 6:45pm and finish at 8:30pm running a compressed 1hour 45minute programme (compared to the 2hour programme from previous seasons)

Trophy Night Winners. Unfortunately our plans for a March 29^th Trophy Night now seem very optimistic and our more recent plans to hold a postponed trophy night on August 30^th were also cancelled due to a letter from the NSW Office of Sport that was published only two weeks ago. We had tried to keep the Age Championship winners a secret to create a sense of excitement at the ESLAC Trophy Night but now with the Trophy night cancelled yet again it is time to finally let everyone know who has claimed the major Trophies for the 2019/20 Season.

Best Overall Competitor Trophy. In many previous years the Best Overall Competitor Trophy has been easy to decide as we have had very few state medalists.  This year we had a record number of qualifiers for the State Titles.  We also had a number of athletes who qualified for State in more than three events.  Unfortunately, State was cancelled as it was the last weekend before the COVID shut down. Given this unusual event we were able to convince LANSW to release the rankings for entry into the State Titles.  This year we have used these State Titles rankings in conjunction with State Multi’s and State Relays results as the basis for our decision on this year’s Best Overall Competitor. Congratulations Jack Richardson (U12) our Best Overall Competitor for the 2019/20 Season.

We have outlined the winner and the honour board below.  To make the Honour Board this year you had to achieve a top three ranking in more than one event at State.   A special mention also goes out to Harvey Todd, Julian Minto, Daniel Morrow and Evan Vukovic who all qualified for State in three or more events.  Marnie Laurence was also the State Multi Event Champion in the Titles that were held at the end of February.

Overall Age Championship Points Winner. Each week athletes have the opportunity to compete in 4 or 5 events (depending on Age Group) and points are awarded to the top 6 place getters in each event. Points are also awarded for a personal best performance, for attendance at a meet and for each event attempted. These points are tallied to determine the Age Champions and Age Champion Runners Up for each age group, but there is one who has topped the lot, the one athlete who has won more points than any other from any age group. This year the ESLAC Committee is proud to award Harvey Todd (U9) as this year’s Highest Points Score winner.

Age Champions and Age Champion Runners Up. There is a lot of competition at Eastern Suburbs Little Athletics each week. It is the quality of this competition and the great spirit with which the competition is undertaken that has made ESLAC a star performer in the lead up to the State Titles this year. There have been some run away winners and some epic battles in the race to be the Age Champions this year but all Age Champions and Age Champion Runners up are deserved winners so congratulations to the 44 names on this year’s list. A special mention must go to Georgina Rouse and Francesca Somerville who after 17 weeks and dozens of events both at 148 points each could not be separated and were tied for Age Champion Runner up for the U12 Girls.
