Santa Came to Visit. Santa was a sensation when he came to visit us at ESLAC on our last Friday night Little A’s meet before Christmas on December the 1st. He wished all the athletes who were competing at Zone good luck and asked us for a copy of our season PBs for each athlete. Santa told us he wanted to see the PBs (Personal Best performances) because how hard you try is often reflected by how many PBs you get. He said it would help him to work out who to put at the top of his list for Christmas.
Next Little A’s Meet. We start the second half of our season on Friday January the 19th, 2018, when we will be running Event Series 3. We look forward to seeing you all back again in the new year.
2017 Zone Carnival Information for Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of December
The ESLAC Zone Team. ESLAC has a 118 members in the Zone Team for 2017 participating in 409 events. Please download the ESLAC Zone Entries 2017 V3 to check your events for the weekend. You can also download the ESLAC Alphabetical Zone Entry Report which lists all athletes alphabetically and shows the day of each event.
Information Desk. There will be an ESLAC information desk set up in the stand that will have age patches and safety pins as well as team listings and other information that may be of use to new Zone participants.
Seating Allocation. We will put up an ESLAC flag in the grandstand below our information desk to designate an ESLAC seating area. It will be completely informal but it will be good to have the ESLAC families sitting together to help support our fellow ESLAC Team members.
Zone Carnival Program. Please download a copy of the complete 2017 ICZ Final Zone Program to take with you on the weekend. There are also events listings with times that have been reformatted to make them a little easier to read for ICZ 2017 Zone Saturday Track Program and the ICZ 2017 Zone Sunday Track Program and the ICZ 2017 Zone Field Events Program. The items that have been highlighted in red are changes that were made from the first version of the program that was released on Monday night. Please note the following date/day changes in the Field Events Program: U17F High Jump moves from Sunday to Saturday, U12F Shot Put changes from Sunday to Saturday, U14F Shot Put changes from Saturday to Sunday, U17F Javelin changes from Saturday to Sunday and U17M Javelin changes from Sunday to Saturday.
Volunteer Roster. ESLAC has been given the responsibility to run the Discus events on the weekend. There is Discus 1 and Discus 2 to run. Discus 2 is not located in the same position as we normally have it on Friday night but as shown on the Zone Map of ES Marks Dec 2017. All parent volunteers should report to Discus 1 (the normal main discus net on the inner field) to be assigned to your volunteer location. To find out the day and time you are scheduled to volunteer please check out the ESLAC Zone Volunteer Roster 2017 Saturday and the ESLAC Zone Volunteer Roster 2017 Sunday. For those who paid the non volunteer levy, thank you for your contribution to the red ESLAC shirt helpers who will be on various duties at the discus and track timing over the weekend.
Sponsor Patches. Coles Supermarkets is the new sponsor for Little Athletics this season. The deal was not in place at the start of the season and we have not yet received new Coles sponsor patches so we cannot fit them. Any JetStar patches still on uniforms should be removed before the Zone Carnival. There will be some white tape at the help desk that can be used to cover any patches that havn’t been removed on the day. The Centre Number patch (it was “2” for ESLAC) is no longer required as part of the uniform but can be left on if it is fitted.
March Past. One feature of the Zone Carnival is the March Past that happens at 10:20am 0n Sunday. It is a bit quaint but it is good to show that we are proud of our club and we would appreciate all athletes who are at ES Marks to grab an ESLAC friend (specially the younger athletes) and take them to the start of the 100m to March down the main straight in front of the grandstand and show off some ESLAC spirit.
Good luck to the ESLAC Team. We hope the athletes enjoy competing and the volunteers make some new friends by the discus nets over the weekend.
