The Region 8 event for Under 9 to Under 12 age groups is planned to be held 5-7 February at the Sylvania Athletics Track. Please see our updated Calendar Page for the latest season details.
In previous years the top six places from our Zone carnival would qualify for Regionals and the next four fastest/longest/highest from both zones. Please remember our zone is one of the strongest in NSW as is our Region.
This year with no zone championships being held athletes will have to nominate for an event and the club will submit a time/distance/height based on the best performances at a club event. We will go through the club results to obtain the best performance results, that includes recovering the best times for athletes who have run multiple races at a Friday night meet.
All clubs in our zone will be completing a similar process.
Actions from your side:
- Check your athlete has met the minimum entry standards detailed below
- Attend this Friday 4 December and Register at the Regional entry table you can submit the time from the club results or attend on Sunday 13 December and Register at the Regional entry table
- Athletes can only enter a maximum of four events at Regionals
- The club will not take email entries
- We have a Regional Practice carnival on Sunday 13 December from 1600-1800 where we will run some events as the last chance to qualify. This event is combined with a NSW athletics league event so there will be some non ESLAC racing on that day
- The club will complete the application for Regionals in late December and then be advised of the successful athletes by the Region 8 coordinators
- Once the names are confirmed we will seek the Regional fee and the parent volunteer roster or the non-volunteer fee
Please note that meeting the entry standard does not guarantee access to the Regional carnival.
Many of the normal details are not currently known. Our advice is to check the standards and submit your entry at the Regional table this Friday or Sunday 13 December.
Please note the U13-U17 State entry process is still not confirmed but it will be based on times.
