Friday 12 November – Competition points start tonight

This week we start with the competition points.  We have worked on the timing system, restocked the BBQ and the rain is forecast to clear enough to hold our event.

For those that are interested in the competition, last night it was confirmed that Little Athletics will run a Zone Carnival on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 January.  It will be held at the Crest Athletics track at Bankstown.  Out Zone entry table will open next week and we will provide some more information. All zones will be running a carnival and our Region 8 Carnival is likely to follow zone nominally on Saturday 19 and Sun 20 February.  This will mean our Eastern Suburbs Little Athletics event on Friday 28 January will not be held.  We will update the calendar once we have confirmed the Regional date.

Some key information about this Friday is outlined below:

  1. If we cancel due to weather this will be notified by 1300 on a Friday (website, Instagram and Facebook).  We try to ensure we hold the event but if heavy rain/storms are forecast at the time of our event we will cancel as our electronic timing gear is impacted by the heavy rain.
  2. We again expect a number of people will be collecting registrations.  Returning members if you could bring back your last years registration numbers we can re use the RFID tags that we place in the numbers
  3. New members collecting your registrations, please bring proof of age for your athlete (birth certificate or passport)
  4. Please remember you will need to complete the working with children form (required by Little Athletics NSW) as you will access the general area.  Please note that you will not need to have a Working With Children clearance just complete the form if you are only performing limited parent helper duties etc.  Registration collection will be available from 1700
  5. At registration, you will also need to complete the parental obligations form advise whether you will help the age manager, help on the BBQ or be paying the non-volunteer fee of $70 for a child or $120 for a family.  We require one carer from each family to assist each week and if this is not possible please pay the non-volunteer fee at registration.  We use this money to arrange a large crew of ex-athletes to ensure the event functions each week.
  6. Uniforms will be open as well but to ensure you don’t miss the event if required just pin your number on your athlete’s shirt so they can start with the other athletes and then you can purchase the uniform through the evening.  Uniforms has sold out of the small sizes and we are awaiting the new stock. Uniforms like many other purchases are slower than normal at the moment.  We will publicise when we expect new stock which is still a few weeks away.  If anyone has old uniforms we will accept them washed and with the numbers and patches removed given the shortage of uniforms. Please drop them at the uniform shop.
  7. We are completing event  series 2 which is on our website
  8. Those that have enrolled in the coaching programs they will commence from 1730 with Leo on Sprints, Mal on Hurdles, Maxim on Long Jump and Anne on walks.  If you want your athlete to participate please pay the $100 fee for the season (refer to coaching section) of the website.

Our Tots to Under 8s event is from 1730-1830

Our U9s to U17s event is from 1830-2000

Please just line up at the relevant age flag positioned on the field to enable the event to commence

Please note that the BBQ and Uniforms will be in operation,  we have limited facilities and one EFTPOS machine so if you can bring cash to pay at the BBQ or the uniform area that will assist.

Under our COVID plan parents and carers that are not vaccinated please stay outside of the fenced area,  so please do not enter the track and field area. Vaccinated parents and carers would participate as normal.

It will fantastic to see the athletes out there again enjoying the event.
