Hurdles, Walks and Javelin this Friday November 1st

Air Quality Guidelines. Little Athletics NSW has issued a reminder to all Little Athletics Centres about our policy with regards to air quality. As air quality deteriorates the events that involve a high amount of aerobic exertion will be cancelled. For our program tonight (we are running Event Series 2) that would mean that a decision about running the 500m pack start for the U7s and the walks events for the U9s, U10s and U11s will be made when conditions are assessed at around 6:30pm. However, with the forecast of a quite strong onshore breeze for tonight we are hoping the smoke haze will clear and the program will go ahead as is.

Age Managers Meeting. Could all age managers please see our Club President, Drew Richardson, on the infield opposite the barbeque at 5:45pm for an update on the LANSW State Relay Championships and our Air Quality Policy procedures.

State Relays Championships Coming Up. ESLAC has entered 31 teams in the NSW State Relay Championships being held on Saturday November 16th for the U8-U11 age groups (Junior Day) and Sunday November 17th for the U12-U17 age groups (Senior Day). The relay team selectors have some provisional teams, but if you wish to be considered please ensure you compete in the 100 metres (we have unofficially added extra 100m races to the schedule) by going over to the back straight after 7pm. Please note that the selectors will take recent times, previous performances and relay change proficiency into account when selecting teams.

Hurdles, Walks and Javelin this Friday November 1st. Since our last straight hurdles night was cancelled due to threatening weather this will be the first time the U11 and U12 age groups get to run the hurdles over 80m. These age groups used to run 60m hurdles but LANSW has changed the event specifications from this season. This Friday November 1st we will be running Event Series 2 which sees the Tots through U7s run 70m, the U6s through U9s run the 100m and the U8s through U17s running the straight hurdles. There are Walks for the U9s, U10s and U11s while the U12s to U17s will also run the 400m. You can print copies of the ESLAC Event Series 2 Nov 1, 2019 and the Event Series 2 Program List Nov 1, 2019 and the ESLAC ES Marks Event Locations Map Sep 19, 2018 and bring them with you on Friday night so that you know what is scheduled for your age group and where you can find your group at any time.

Barbeque Help Required. Thanks to those who have been helping at the barbeque every week, it is very much appreciated. But we know those regular volunteers could really do with some extra help, so if you have registered as helping with the BBQ please see Allison at the barbeque area to assist (the earlier the better). We have a large number of registered BBQ helpers but have not had many actually assisting lately.

Registrations are Still Open. Please let your friends know that, even though the season has started, registrations for the 2019_20 season are still open. We have already had 5 weeks of the season but there are 12 weeks left before our last night at ES Marks on Friday the 6th of March 2020. When registering, remember that we are “Eastern Suburbs Little Athletics Club – Friday” and that if you want to claim your $100 NSW State Government Active Kids Voucher, you should visit Services NSW first to get your voucher number. Click here to register online now, or visit our Registration Page for full details on how to register for the 2019/20 season.
